This topic is a additional Wi-Fi 5 router using internal Wi-Fi module against previous one.

Specification

  • External Wi-Fi adaptor : Netgear AXE3000 Wi-Fi 6E USB Adaptor
  • Host System : Raspberry Pi 4 Model B
  • Internal Wi-Fi Module : Wi-Fi 5 in Host System
  • OS : Built OpenWRT 23.05 in Local Ubuntu22.04 PC.

How to build the system

Building OpenWRT OS version 23.05

This procedure is same as a previous tipic.

Additionaly, Wi-Fi 5 configuration using OpenWRT command uci in “default_radio0” configs.

uci set wireless.default_radio0="wifi-iface"
uci set wireless.default_radio0.device="radio0"
uci set wireless.default_radio0.network="lan"
uci set wireless.default_radio0.mode="ap"
uci set wireless.default_radio0.encryption="psk2"
uci set wireless.default_radio0.key="<your passphrase>"
uci set wireless.default_radio0.ssid="RaspberryPi4_WiFi5_Router"
uci set wireless.radio0.disabled=0
uci set wireless.radio0.channel=40
uci set wireless.radio0.band=5g
uci set wireless.radio0.htmode=VHT80

Committing settinngs in the system and Wi-Fi system restart

uci commit wireless
wifi reload

Connecting to another system

A follwing catured image is the searched Wi-Fi access points in Windows 11 system.

The dual router system setup is complete.
